Abstract (EN)
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical efficacy of the use of kersetin in the treatment of skin lesions and pruritus findings due to Feline Atopic Skin Syndrome (FASS), which is commonly observed in cats. Materials and Methods: Both sexes of sterile and non-sterile cats older than twelve months of age were selected and divided into two groups as sick and healthy. FEDESI and SCORFAD scores were performed by the researcher and GAS scores were performed by the owner in cats diagnosed with FASS and quercetin at a dose of 3 mg/kg was given orally for 14 days. The patients were scored again on days 0., 7. and 14. and blood samples were taken. Blood samples were centrifuged at 3000 rpm and serum was separated and stored at -800C. Thiol disulfide levels were determined by ELISA method. Results: Cats diagnosed with Feline Atopic Skin Syndrome were classified according to their skin reaction patterns. FEDESI, SCORFAD and GAS mean scores determined by clinical evaluations were significantly decreased. It was determined that the moderate decreases in thiol-disulfide balance on similar sample days and between sample days within the group did not show statistical significance in the samples performed on control days of sick and healthy animals. Conclusion: The data obtained in our study showed promising results that quercetin can be widely used in veterinary medicine by alleviating the clinical signs of FASS with its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
