Ethnobotanical characteristics of Kemah (Erzincan) district

Abstract (EN)
This research was carried out between April 2022 and May 2023 in order to determine the plants used by the local people for various purposes in Kemah district. The aim of the study is to determine the scientific and local names, the parts used, the utilization purposes and the utilization methods of the detected plants. During the research process, 31 of the 73 villages of the district were visited and samples were collected from plants used for ethnobotanical purposes. As a result of the study, the plant taxa growing in the district were determined and given in a table. In the table, the family, scientific name, local name, purpose of use, used part and preparation and usage of each plant are given. A total of 112 taxa belonging to 43 families in the research area, 92 medicinal, 63 food, 8 ornamental, 8 animal feed, 6 skin care, 6 biological control, 4 hair care, 3' It has been determined that ü are used for fuel, 3 for paint, 2 for cleaning, 1 for furniture and 1 for protection and purposes of evil eye. Distribution of plant taxa determined as a result of the study to phytogeographic regions; Euro-Siberian 1 (0,9%), Black Sea 1 (0,9%), Mediterranean 3 (2,8%), Iranian-Turanian 22 (20,4%) and 81 (75,0%) taxa of unknown region form was found. A total of 9 taxa were determined to be endemic plants of Turkey. As a result of the study, the distribution of the taxa determined to have ethnobotanical use in the first five families is as follows, respectively; Rosaceae 14 taxa (25,5%), Asteraceae 14 taxa (25,5%), Lamiaceae 11 taxa (20,0%), Apiaceae 8 taxa (14,5%), Poaceae 4 taxa (7,4%), and Polygonaceae are 4 taxa (7,4%). In the research area, 91 genera belonging to 43 families were identified. The genera containing the most taxa in the study are respectively; Achillea 2 species (5,7%), Allium 3 species (8,6%), Cerasus 2 species (5,7%), Crataegus 3 species (8,6%), Hypericum 2 species (5,7%), Juniperus 2 species (5,7%), Mentha 3 species (8,6%), Morus 2 species (5,7%), Origanum 3 species (8,6%), Plantago 3 species (8,6%), Quercus 3 species (8,6%), Rosa 3 species (8,6%), Rumex 2 species (5,7%) and Salvia 2 species (5,7%).
