Legends created in Kemaliye district

In this study, texts belonging to the legend, which is one of the narrative genres of anonymous folk literature, which has been identified in seventeen of eight and sixty-two villages in the center of Kemaliye district of Erzincan province, which has been told in the oral culture environment from past to present, have been compiled. The aforementioned study was carried out in Kemaliye district -in the center and in the villages- by using the interview technique after a long period of field research method. The examples of this genre, which has been formed with the spoken language that deals with the recent time, describes today's world and includes the dialect features that dominate the region, and continues its existence in the oral culture of the people, have been determined as a result of a long study and turned into a written source. Thus, it is aimed to prevent the disappearance of examples of legends, which are revealed as spiritual cultural values by the individuals who make up the society, and which are about to lose their existence in oral culture. In the first part of the study, which is based on the data obtained as a result of the researches carried out in line with this aim -by scanning the written sources about the region and quoting in accordance with the ethical rules-, information is given about the richness of the district and the literature of the district in which the research is conducted. In the second part, after making a general evaluation on the legend, the compiled legends are given place under thematic headings according to the subjects they cover. In the third part of the study, a total of two hundred and ninety-nine legend texts and an analysis of the motifs and formulaic numbers in the texts, which were determined as a result of the interviews with the source people reached through the field research carried out in the district, were included.
