Özet (EN)
In urban communities, individuals are forming new cultural environments in the digital age, facilitated by advancements in technology. This research focuses on the consideration of video games as products of digital culture in the city center of Eskişehir, exploring their evolution and transformation, as well as the cultural groups they generate. The study identifies reasons for playing video games and the locations where they are played in the city center of Eskişehir, along with anonymity in virtual gaming groups and communities. Additionally, the research evaluates the use of video game jargon in everyday life and the production of content by video game players on digital platforms within the context of video game folklore. Cultural groups formed by video game players in the city center are examined from the perspective of folklore studies. Data were obtained through observation and interview techniques during fieldwork conducted in Eskişehir. The findings suggest that video games constitute a new field and compilation area in folklore studies, highlighting insights into the execution and traditionalization of culture in urban society. The develop-ment of unique jargon by gaming groups in the context of digital/video game folklore, lan-guage changes occurring in Turkish, and the socialization, enjoyment, shared interests, and leisure aspects observed in digital gaming are identified as motivations for gameplay.
