Abstract (EN)

The 20th century is a period of rapid and radical changes with modernization and industrialization movements. The intense population migration from the village to the city has led to an increase in urban settlements throughout the country.This situation; by initiating urban change and transformation movements, it caused disruptions in urban texture, an unidentified and formerly independent building, and raised the problem of preserving cultural heritage. The aim of this study is to read Adana's urban memory change over modern architectural products on Atatürk Boulevard between 1930-2018. For this purpose, the data obtained by using map, drawing, photograph archives, questionnaire technique and SPSS analysis program were handled through urban reading within the framework of architectural discipline and hermeneutic reading approach and the analysis of urban memory components was questioned. As a result of hermeneutical analysis, the effect of change on Atatürk Boulevard differs according to the observation groups, the well-preserved and registered buildings with structural interventions have preserved their place in the city's memory, while the architectural products of the recent period have been destroyed and / or destroyed, lost from urban memory, and their value has decreased.
