Abstract (EN)

This study examine directly affected by the participation of actors and their perspectives on the transformation process in Eskisehir Karapınar Valley Urban Transformation Project. The study was designed as mixed research involving both qualitative and quantitative methods such as interivews, survey forms, observations used to collect data. The field of the study is composed of the neighborhoods of Karapınar, Alanonu, Huzur and Erenkoy all of which are called as ?Slum Prevention Area? by the Municipality of Eskisehir Odunpazarı. The municipality and TOKI carried out a project called ?Karapınar Vadisi 2. Etap Projesi? to regenerate these slum areas. Between the months of August and September of 2012, during the field research, 371 people face-to-face survey was conducted. In addition, 50 neighborhood residents, including governmental and nongovernmental organizations, a total of 59 interviews were conducted. Quantitative data were analyzed by Chi-square, t-test, ANOVA and correlation.Findings shows that the transformation by residents of the neighborhood in general, "both positive and negative" as describing. There is not given information and concern that the transformation will be going harmful on the basis of a negative approach to transformation. Not shared information about the process with NGOs as well as residents of the neighborhood. In this sense, governance and participation have been ignored transformation project, which will be held.
