A BIM execution plan proposal for urban transformation projects

BIM is the new paradigm of the AEC industry changing; design, construction and management techniques. It was required that such as this innovation fading up the productivity has been created for the AEC industry. In spite of the fact that AEC industry is one of the greatest power of the economy for many countries in the world, productivity of the industry couldn't have been improved (1960 to 2000). Productivity of the industries except AEC and agriculture, have been enhanced by using technology. Today the expactations from AEC industry, including; alternatively design options, sustainable projects, accurate cost estimations and lowest waste materials won't be able to fulfill with existing methodologies. The traditional project delivery methods such as design & built or design-bid-build having seperated progress would be the insufficient way to the current construction requirements on account of the fact that raising project details and required accurate estimation of the project are becoming characteristics of the new generation construction projects. Today, all stakeholders sharing the responsibilities and executing the works, should manage the construction projects involving structural analysis, energy analysis, lightening analysis etc. as an integrated model. For instance, a structural engineer must be able to reach all details of the model and analyse by using other information settled within the architectural or plumbing elements. Everyone in the project can get the information which supposed to be used in relevant analysis. Thus, it is able to be provided that misunderstanding projects details are reduced. Wasting time on account of the misunderstanding issues can be prevented by using BIM which faciliates to understand the model with 3D integrated information. As a result, this thesis aimed to improve a proposed BIM execution plan for the urban transformation projects within Turkey. The previous implementations about BIM regulations which have been settled by the countries where usage of BIM has been developed were analyzed. The suitable proposal for the transformation projects has been intended to be found.
