In the context of urban sustainability Kastamonu province, central district architectural heritage protection and evaluation

With the rapid change of cities, problems such as the increase in construction and the intensification of vehicle traffic are frequently encountered situations today. The change in the city also causes the loss of culture and identity. The concept of urban sustainability aims to protect and sustain values in cities. The buildings and the environment in urban areas should be designed to serve sustainable qualities. It is worth working on the protection and evaluation of the architectural heritage of the central district of Kastamonu province. The aim of the study is to offer suggestions for the preservation, sustainable use and transfer of architectural structures in Kastamonu to future generations. In this thesis, first of all, the concept of urban sustainability and the protection of architectural heritage are emphasized. Then, the historical and cultural features of Kastamonu province were discussed and the historical and architectural features of the architectural heritage buildings in the central district were examined in detail. The scope of this study covers an analysis of the conservation and evaluation of the architectural heritage in the Merkez District of Kastamonu in the context of urban sustainability. This analysis includes the determination, protection and sustainability of the historical, cultural and architectural values of the region, as well as the evaluation of its potential in terms of tourism. These analyzes were made by evaluating the texts, sample projects and other data encountered in the literature. In the study supported by field studies, the physical conditions and usage areas of historical buildings were examined. While the sustainability of the buildings is evaluated in terms of environmental, social and economic aspects, issues such as their relations with environmental factors, their compatibility with the environment and their importance in terms of tourism are also evaluated.
