Urban agriculture and integration of urban agriculture into the city planning

ABSTRACT Urban agriculture which is a new term for our country, refers to the agriculturel activity done in cities. Although, its date goes back to the history of cities it has only been examined and developed by different organisations in 1970's. On the other hand, agriculturel activities are done in urban areas also in our country. Consequently, questions like who, why, how. where and by whom the urban agriculture is done around the world has been examined with their answers and analysed under the circumcitances of our country. First, the situation of urban agriculture in Turkey, in consistent with its legal and managerial applicability has been discussed. In this context, urban agriculture was determined to be out of the current Land Usege and Possession Classification. This situation required a new classification for the urban agriculture to become active in urban areas. In parallel, the roles of urban authorities in this context was analysed, applicability of urban agriculture under the circumcitances of our country was evaluated and a new "Land Usege and Possession Classification" has been suggested. This new land usege and possession classification is based upon the classification of Ministry of Public Works, because this classification is widely known and is widely used in development plans in Turkey. And for the applicability of this suggestion the requiredamendments are put forth. Supporting this- proposal, the analysis showed us that the conditions of local administrations like municipalities (including metropolitan municipalities) and ward managements and central authorities like special provincial administrations and city administrations are sufficient.Land Usege and Possession Classification Proposal: 8.
