Abstract (EN)
Aim: Studies aimed at detection of factors that affect fracture healing process still be interested by researchers. We aimed to detect effects of flax-seed oil on fracture healing at our study. Material and Method: A study was performed at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Animal Experiments Practice and Research center ain between dates of april-june 2018. At study, 64 spraque-dawley rats were used. 4 seperated groups were created. Group 1 was named of healty control, group 2 was named of femoral fracture+control, group 3 was named of femoral fracture+flax-seed oil, group 4 was named of healty+flax-seed oil. Group 2 and 3 that were created fracture experimentally were separated into 3 subgroups. They were sacrified and skipped to evaluation phases at 2., 4., and 6. weeks. In evaluation phase, in between these groups were compared that whether or difference biochemically, histologically and radiologically. Findings: In early and late of periods of fracture healing MDA and GSH levels were found out significant difference in between working and control statistically. At 2. week, in group that flax-seed oil was given in all rats callus and bridging were present. At 4. week, group that flax-seed oil was given in 6 rats complete union was seen radiologically. İnhistologic evaluation, at sections belong to 2. week control group that were created a fracture, extensive oedematous areas, intensive infiltration and necrotic osteocytes, osteoblastic activity from place to place were observed but not cartilage tissue. We observed low levels of osteocalcin activity in femur sections belong to 2. week treatment group that created a fracture and given flax-seed oil. Determined that osteocalcin positive score as of 3.00+-0.54.Conclusion: Biochemical analyses showed that flax-seed oil has antioxidant effect on fracture healing. Also, flax-seed oil was determined that it showed positive effects on all phases of fracture healing process histologically and in early period of fracture healing process. 2018, 72 pages Key words: flax-seed oil, fracture healing, fracture, rat
