Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research; The aim of this study is to reveal the relationship between the levels of freedom perceived by individuals who are interested in kickboxing and their pursuit of excitement. It was determined by the appropriate sampling method from the athletes living in the borders of Turkey and active in the Kick Boxing branch. A total of 593 participants, 355 men and 238 women, took part in this study. The data from the participants were demographic information form, the "Leisure Perceived Freedom Scale in Leisure-Time", which is a part of the "Leisure Diagnostic Battery" developed by Witt and Ellis in 1985 to measure the perceived freedom levels in leisure time and consists of 25 items, and also Hoyle et al. The sensation seeking scale developed by him was used. When the results of the normality test applied to the data were examined, it was seen that the data did not have a normal distribution according to the Kolmogorov-Smirnov values, however, since the Skewness and Kurtosis values were between -3 and + 3 values (Jondeau and Rockinger, 2008), the t test for independent samples from parametric tests and the one-way variance analysis was applied, and TUKEY was applied as the second level test. 46.4% of the participants stated that they spent their free time by participating in physical activities. 23.4% of the participants stated that they spend their free time by participating in social activities. While 2.2% of the participants spend their free time by participating in cultural activities, 23.4% of them take time for themselves by resting at home. In the approach to their participation in leisure activities, 26.6% of the participants evaluate their activities individually, 28.5% with their family and with a group of friends, 44.9% with a group of friends. It has been determined that the mean values of the knowledge and skill sub-dimension, one of the sub-dimensions of leisure time perception, are higher in men than in women. In the Excitement and Fun sub-dimension, sensation seeking values were found to be more dominant in women than in men. It is stated that single people are more active in seeking excitement than married people. Keywords: Kick Boxing, free time, thrill seeking
