Personality types and tendency towards ilnesses

The purpose of the study is to convey the existence of the relationship between personality and the susceptibility of ilnesses as well as to highlight the differences between various personalities, temperaments and characters. Therefore, the study has been planned into three parts. In the first part, definitions of fundamental personality terms are given; in the second part, ilness concept and what affects this concept are highlighted. In the last part, theories that explain the relationship between personality and ilness are given and in addition, examples of vaious patient groups are examined. In this study, it was made use of literature review. However, vocational information, experience and comments are also included. In this study, Cloninger's Temperement and Character survey was especially used, taking into account the frequency of sub-dimensions of this survey, and the relationship map of characteristics with ilnesses was obtained. The database of Turkish Physiachtry Index was scanned and the studies related to the cases of dermatological ilnesses, headached, physical medicine, chest pain, asthma was examined. When looked at these studies, the most significant common conclusion was to avoid the damages of these ilnesses. Although when the affect of depression and anxiety is controlled, the score of avoding the damages was still high, which shows that dimension of temperament in terms of development of physchotherapy ilnesses possess a situational and continuity characteristic. Furthermore, it also shows, that serotonergic system is also involved in the process. It can also be inferred that because self-sufficiency was found below healthy controls, the process does affect the personality.
