An investigation of teachers'self-regulated learning skills in massive open online courses

In this study, teachers'self-regulated learning skills were analysed in the context of Massive Open Online Courses. The aim of the study is to examine the self-regulated learning skills of teachers enrolled in the course via "etwinningonline.eba.gov.tr" and OBA in terms of different variables. As the survey method quantitative data collection method was used in the study. The participants of the study consisted of 600 primary and secondary school teachers working in Manisa province who enrolled in the course through "etwinningonline.eba.gov.tr" and ÖBA in the 2023-2024 academic year. Within the scope of the research, easily accessible case sampling, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used to determine the teachers in the study group. The findings show that there is a significant difference in favour of women according to gender. In other words, self-regulated learning skills of female teachers are higher than male teachers. It was also found that there were significant differences according to years of seniority. Accordingly, it was found that the self-regulated learning skills of teachers with 1-20 years of seniority were higher than those with more than 20 years of seniority. Within the scope of the research, it was found that there were significant differences according to the age variable. Accordingly, it was found that teachers aged 26-30 and 31-40 had higher self-regulated learning skills than teachers aged 41-45 and 46-50. Significant differences were found according to the frequency of teachers'visits to KAÇED platforms. Accordingly, it was concluded that frequent visitors had higher self-regulated learning skills than occasional visitors. Again, it was concluded that there was a significant difference in favour of those who took courses according to the teachers'previous open and distance learning courses. Within the scope of the research, it was concluded that there was no significant difference according to branch and education level. As a result, the findings of the research were discussed and suggestions for future research were presented
