Abstract (EN)

In this study, firstly Benzoyl-3-(4-methylphenyl)thiourea (B1) and Benzoyl-3-(4-chlorophenyl)thiourea (B2) compounds were obtained by reacting benzoyl isothiocyanate with p-toluidine and p-chloroaniline. Then, O-methylcarboxyl chitosan (CM-CS) was obtained by oxidation of hydroxide groups on chitosan (CS) to methylcarboxyl groups. Then, new chitosan Schiff base derivative ligands (HL1 ve HL2) were synthesized by condensation reaction of N-aryl-N'-benzoylthiourea compounds containing carbonyl groups with amine groups of carboxymethyl chitosan. New polymeric chitosan copper(II) complexes [CuL1,2(H2O)CH3COO] were synthesized by reaction of these polymeric ligands with copper salts. The structures of the synthesized substances were elucidated by using various physicochemical and spectroscopic methods such as FT-IR and magnetic susceptibility. The structural morphological differences between chitosan, O-carboxymethyl chitosan Schiff base derived ligands and their copper(II) complexes were supported by the surface morphology studies of these compounds examined by SEM-EDAX technique. As a result of the surface scanning, it was determined that the chitosan surface structure was smoother than that of the obtained compounds. In addition, the thermal behaviors of the synthesized chitosan derived ligands and complexes were determined by TG/DTA method.
