Fear in classic Turk poetry

Fear is one of the emotions that affect every person. Traces of fear have entered the research field of many disciplines from biology to psychology and literature. The concept of fear in Eastern and Western literary texts is also present in classical Turkish poetry. Poets have made the concept of fear the subject of their poems around certain words. In this study, the concept of fear in various elements in the divans of a hundred classic Turk literatüre poets living between the 14th and 19th centuries was tried to be determined. In this study, information about the concepts of fear, anxiety and phobia, direct and indirect words expressing fear in classical Turkish poetry were given; the elements of fear subject (feared-unafraid) and fear object (feared-unafraid) in the poetry tradition were identified; the changes and acts that occur as a result of fear and the elements that eliminate fear were mentioned. All these elements are supported with examples of the poems analyzed. Keywords: Classical Turkish poetry, fear, horror.
