Abstract (EN)

Aim: In our study, we aimed to compare the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative maternal and neonatal results in normal weight, obese and morbidly obese pregnants who were delivered by cesarean in our clinic and to discuss our findings in the light of current literature. Materials-Methods: In this study, 151 pregnant women aged 37 weeks and over who were hospitalized by Dicle University Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic between January 2019 and December 2019 were evaluated retrospectively. 41 of 151 pregnant women included in the study normal weight (Body mass index-BMI 20–24,9 kg / m2), 71 were obese (BMI 30–39.9 kg / m2), 39 were morbid obese (BMI ≥40 kg / m2). Data such as Patients' age, gravida, parity, pregnancy weight, additional maternal diseases, the presence of preeclampsia-Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), gestational week, form of anesthesia, skin and uterine incision method, number of days hospitalized after surgery, presence of intraoperative-postoperative complications, cesarean indications, 1st and 5th minutes APGAR scores, Data such as maternal laboratory values were obtained from patient files and surgery notes by examining the hospital information management system archive. Results: The average BMI of the pregnant women included in the study is 33.79 ± 7.83, the average age is 31.50 ± 5.91, the mean gravida is 4.58 ± 2.45, and the mean week of pregnancy is 38.02 ± 2.20. Sixteen pregnant women (10.60%) smoke while 135 pregnant women (89.40%) do not. The babies of 13 (8.61%) of the pregnant women included in the study went to the Neonatal intensive care unit. While 144 (95.36%) of the patients had no postoperative complications; There were 6 patients (3.97%) with incision infection and one patient (0.66%) with postopertive fever. While 149 (98.68%) of pregnant women had no intraoperative complications, 2 (1.32%) of them developed uterin eatony. Between groups When the average number of days of hospitalization is examined, the average of morbid obese group is higher than the other two groups. Compared to chronic disease, it was less common in the normal weight group than in the other groups. The average birth weight of the normal overweight group; It is lower than obese and morbid obese groups. The presence of pregnancy complications is less in the normal overweight group compared to other groups. Conclusion: When we look at the results of our study, there was a significant difference between the groups compared in terms of antenatal pregnancy complication. While the complication of antenatal pregnancy was 14.63% in the normal weight group, it was 18.31% in obese and 38.46% in patients with morbid obesity. Increased preeclampsia and gestational diabetes mellitus were observed in the obese and morbidly obese groups. Complication rate increased as body mass index increased. Therefore, it seems that the BMI control and obesity prevention will be effective in preventing pregnancy complications.
