Abstract (EN)
This study is a methodological study which has been conducted for the purpose of determining the validity and reliability of the Turkish Version of the Self-Sufficiency Scale in Clinical Performance (SSSCP). The population of the study consists of 2., 3., and 4. Grade students of the Ege University, Nursing Faculty (N=590). The sample of the study consists of 227 students who could be reached and who consented to participate in the study. The questionnaires were applied to the 20 students who were included in the study for the test-retest processes 15 days after the first application. The data of the study were collected with questionnaires between the dates of April and June 2014. The "Individual Introduction Form" and "Self-Sufficiency Scale in Clinical Performance" were used in collecting the data. The SPSS 16.0 program was used in the analysis of the data. The Factor Analysis and Varimax Rotation Techniques were used for the structural validity of the SSSCP; and the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Analyses were used for the criteria validity. The Item Analysis was conducted in order to determine whether the items of the scale were distinguishing or not. The Alpha Internal Consistency Coefficient was computed to determine the reliability of the scale and the test-retest correlations were examined. At the end of the study, the scale item factor loads of the SSSCP were found to be between .64 and .88. In addition, 4 factors (sub-dimensions) were determined as "Data Collection", "Diagnosis and Planning", "Application" and "Evaluation", which explained the 78.23% of the total variance of the scale. It was also determined that the Cronbach Alpha Coefficient of the SSSCP was .98; and the test-retest correlations in the total scale was r=.97; the sub-dimensions test-retest correlations were between .87 and .99; the relation between the test-retest measurements was in the positive direction and statistically meaningful at a further level (p<.001); and it was also determined that the difference between the test-retest average points was not statistically meaningful (p>.05). It was also determined that the total scale points of the sub-dimensions and the correlations were .91 at the "data collection" dimension; .94 at the "diagnosis and planning" dimension; .92 at the "application" dimension; and .90 at the "evaluation" dimension. In the light of the data obtained in the study, it has been concluded that the Turkish version of the SSSCP is valid and reliable. Therefore it has been determined that the SSSCP, which is in the form of equally spaced numerical scaling, consisting of total 37 items, and having four sub-dimensions like the "data collection" dimension; the "diagnosis and planning" dimension; the "application" dimension; and the "evaluation" dimension, may be used in evaluating the self-sufficiencies of the nursing students in clinical performances.
