The effect of microsurgery inguinal varicocelectomy by secondary infertile male patients with clinical varicocele

Varicocele is the most common treatable pathology by male infertility. It plays an aetiopathologic role by 40% of primary and by 80% of secondary infertile cases. It is reported that surgical therapy of varicocele results in improvement of semen parameters and rise in pregnancy rates.In this study effect of Microsurgery Inguinal Varicocelectomy by treating varicocele in secondary infertile patients is researched. Sixty primary infertile and thirty secondary infertile patients, which applied to the andrology outpatient department between January 2005 and January 2009 due to infertility and undergone Microsurgery Inguinal Varicocelectomy operation because of varicocele presence, are included to the study. Age of the patients, duration of the infertility history, grade of their varikocele, their pre and postoperative semen parameters and pregnancy rates are retrospectively evaluated. Also postoperative semen parameters and the pregnancy rates of the primary and secondary infertile patients are compared with each other.There was no statistically significant difference detected by pre and postoperative semen parameters between two groups (p>0,05). It was detected that sperm motility and number of total motile sperms by primary infertile group and number of spermia, motile spermia and sperm motility by secondary infertile group have statistically significantly increased after surgical procedure (p<0,05). Pregnancy rate by secondary infertile group is observed as higher as the rate in the primary infertile group which was not statistically significant.Microsurgery inguinal varicocelectomy is an effective therapy method by secondary infertile patients because of it?s improving effect on semen parameters which results in rising of pregnancy rates.Key Words: Varicocele, secondary infertility, microsurgery inguinal varicocelectomy.
