Story elements in the collection of biographies of Kinalizâde Hasan Çelebi (Tezkiretu's-suara, volume I): Person, place, time

Subject of this study is to examine the stories in the first volume of the Kınalizâde Hasan Çelebi's Collection of Biographies (Tezkire) in terms of person, space and time. Primary source of the study is the first volume of the two-part facsimiles published by the İbrahim Kutluk. İn this thematic study stories in the source work has been determined and each story evaluated in terms of person, space and time. İn the study, these stories are categorized among themselves and sprit of the period is tried to be revealed by person, space and time. People in the stories are sometimes a sultan, prince or vizier, sometime a poet from the ulema or a someone among the common men. However, since the people in the literary stories part consist of poets and writers, they contain information that will be material to the history of literature. This part, which is about the writers and poets, Kınalizâde Hasan Çelebi narrated in his work also describes their relations with each other and their milieu, their friendships, wit, generosity; their contact with the sultan or the prince of the period and spiritual transformations they gone through. As for the spatial aspects of the stories while open, close, tangible and intangible spaces are determined. It is seen that a space which should be tangible used in an intangible sense. Some spaces show metaphysical space features in some stories, while a space is apparently tangible; but in fact it has intangible qualities. The time period of the stories, usually not clearly stated was determined form the words expressing the time in the related story the sultan of the period, the life of the people, and clues obtained from moment of occurrence of the event. İt is seen that these time periods carry the characteristics of objective time in some places, reminded time in some places, and contemporary time in others. İt carries psychological meanings in some places. As a result, it is understood that Tezkiretu as-Suara, written by Kınalizâde Hasan Çelebi, tells the 16 th century, the period the work is written, on the one hand, and it carries the 15 th century, the previous period, to the present on the other. İt is seen that many of these stories in the work is in accordance with style of istitrâd which they begin as "rivâyet olınur ki, hikâyet iderler ki ve nakl olınur ki". As a result, it can be said that the narrative pieces placed in the text in this style enriched the content of Kınalizade Hasan Çelebi's tezkire and helped for a better understanding of the period in which he was present.
