Abstract (EN)
SUMMARYAnalyzing the correlation of serum iron parameters with paraoxanase, arylesterase and oxidative stres markers in stem cell transplantation patientsHSCT is increasingly used for the treatment of a variety of the malignant and nonmalignant disorders. However, HSCT is also associated with morbidity and mortality, because of increasing in iron level. Iron overload, in tissues and systemic circulation, is importantly thought that increase the oxidative stress.Oxidative stress has been reported to cause many diseases, including cancer. In patients and controls serum iron, iron binding capacity and ferritin levels were measured. Antioxidant enzymes, CAT, GPx, PON, ARE, and GST activities were measured in serum. These parameters and enzymes in relevance to MDA were evaluated. This study was done by taking serum from different disease's patients who will take allogeneic or otolog transplantation therapy. In this study, 61 patients and 36 controls serum were studied.Serum ferritin and MDA levels were significantly increased in the patient group. Statistically significant difference was found between the patient group and the control group (p<0.05).Serum glutathione peroxidase and catalase activity levels were lower in the patient group, but no significant difference was observed between the control group and patient group (p>0.05). Serum GST activity level and the level of serum arylesterase activity was evaluated, there was no statistically significant difference between the groups (p> 0.05). Serum paraoxonase activity levels in the patient group was lower than the control group. Statistically significant difference was found between the two groups (p <0.05).According to Spearman's correlation analysis, while serum MDA level was decreasing, GPx activity in serum was increased, and between them a negative correlation was found. Between serum MDA and serum GST, and between serum paraoxonase activity and serum arylesterase activity were found a positive correlation. In treatment of the hematological diseases serum and tissues iron overload must be prevented. In addition, to protect our antioxidant enzymes levels. we must ingest natural foods which have antioxidant features.Key words: Stem cell transplantation, iron, oxidative stress, paraoxonase, arylesterase, malondialdehyde.
