Abstract (EN)

This thesis is done to understand ?effects of cockpit design andenviromental factors inside the cocpit on pilotage factors?. Aviationsector has shown a rapid development in recent years. Bothcommercial and military flights all over the world are increasingcontinuously. Parallel with this increase, aviation accidents are alsoincreasing. Although the ratio of the accidents in aviation are very rarecompared with other transportation sectors, the tragedic results aremaking them notorious. The accidents are being investigated veryclosely at all times. And these investigations show us that the mainreason of the accidents is human.Human factors within accidents rates are as high as almost %70. Due tothis high rate, researchers are focusing on this subject very closely. They are trying to determine why the pilots are making so manymistakes so as to find the necessary steps to take to minimize them.In this thesis, it is aimed to find the relation between the pilot relatedaccidents and cockpit design depending on the developing aviationdesign sector. Hereby mostly, effects of the helicopter cockpits, interiorenviroment, tandem seat designs and multi functional display adoptedcockpits are evaluated. Under these evaluations, It in intended toadress the necessary measures to take by the designers, users, buyersand maintaners for minimizing the human factor.
