Assessing the education programmes applied in education centres of hospitality businesses according to perspectives of graduates: A study in Antalya

In this study, vocational tourism education applied in education centers has beenassessed according to the perspectives of private practical tourism education centers graduatesof hospitality businesses.The population of the research has consisted of 308 graduates of private practicaltourism education centers and 25 managers of the departments in which these graduates hasworked. As all the population of research has been reached, the sample hasn?t been taken. Inthis study, a questionnaire form has been used for both the graduates and the departmentmanagers. The data obtained from the questionnaire forms have been tabulated anddescriptive information of the graduates and the department managers are given byfrequencies and percentages. The assessments of the graduates about education programmesare tested by Anova Test to find out whether there is a difference in terms of sex, age andlevel of education. The level of significance in the research is accepted as 0.05.According to the study results:• The targets of the education programmes applied in education centers, with thecontent and the learning-teaching progress, the vocational information, the vocationalskill, the foreign language education and human relationship education which havebeen acquired by the students have met the needs of the sector.• The assessment system of the education programmes is efficient to evaluate theacquired vocational information and skill.• In the assessments of the education programmes by the graduates, there are differencesin terms of sex, age, level of education, sector experiences and education departmentsof the graduates.At the end of the research, in the light of results obtained, recommendations are given forthe businesses, business managers, education centers and the teachers working in thesecenters.
