Since life has existed, the interaction with the environment and nature that human beings are in has become an indispensable part of life. As the time progressed and the conditions of life changed, the nature of this interaction was changed and developed to meet the new conditions. Nowadays with the increment of urbanization, the awareness of the harm done to the nature in order to comply with the new life order is increasing, which causes the architecture and urban design to become more important. Under the title of architecture and urban design, it is planned to organize and design living spaces in the urban environment at the scale of the building and its immediate surroundings more livable. However, there are two types of problems in urban design projects. The first is that the concept of sustainability is addressed in a general sense of the disappearance of habitats, rather than producing concrete solutions that can be applied to the site using measurable standards. The other is that standard solutions and applications produced in different geographical regions are applied at inappropriate places. At this point, academic and practical work done in this area should be in the direction of producing measurable solutions with new analysis methods. Green building evaluation systems, which are trying to disseminate the use of ecological building materials that cause lower carbon emissions, have an important place among the methods developed in the building scale. Environmental planning policies, which is a part of urban development law, can be expressed with abstract concepts by determining the content and boundaries. In this study, it was decided to use LEED and BREEAM * methods, which are the most common types of analysis and evaluation methods, on the urban design scale. With this study; it is aimed to evaluate the utility and applicability of such systems on the concept of sustainability, reduce the negative impacts of existing settlements on the environment, emphasize environmental benefits in designs and encourage life in sustainable buildings and settlements. Energy conservation is examined in the sample area located in the Kadıköy peninsula, considering the existing development plans in urban design scale such as; raw building data, orientation and Relations between buildings at the scale of city block and street. Following the evaluation of the sample area in the context of energy conservation, it is aimed to develop proposals on the use of natural energy resources in the residential areas at the scale of city blocks. In this study, it is aimed to increase the awareness in the context of energy conservation and contribute to the zoning regulations in our country where studies on urban design scale are lacking.
