Project management in production of residential buildings

The history of the need of shelter is as old as human history. Every period of the history is full of wars made for the sake of conquering land suitable to settle down. Today, this war, having changed its concept, is still continuing thorough another direction. Industrialisation in the whole world, has accelerated immigration to urban area from rural area, and men has caused springing increase on density of population. So that, a large variety of solutions having been searched in order to form lands suitable to life, which is balancing this density. In Turkey, this case, after 50's, has received no reaction at first, afterwards via some laws, an initiation housing production has been took with the co-operation of the government and private sector. Besides, in this process where there is an important need of sources, construction management has clearly come out, for the sake of using existing sources wiser and in a more planned way. In the context of the thesis, first chapter is separated to analyse above with an introduction explaining its entire context and methods. In second chapter, the presentation of the project management is made from the literature. In addition, beginning with the definition of the project management is presented in tins process of its history via the book called "A Guide to Project Management Body of Knowledge". The third chapter is formed by the analyse of project management according to building construction and the definition of the construction management and its process in accordance with the project and the procedure. Furthermore, types ofVH adjudication and organisation, contracts, programming time, cost and estimation are defined. The fourth chapter is about housing production. The problem of housing in Turkey and ways attempted to solve them are explained. Moreover, construction systems used in housing construction are analysed according to the process of construction with some charts. In the fifth chapter, with Delphi technique, a research made in İzmir and its results are presented in order to find out the actors affecting the usage of the project management techniques in building construction. The sixth chapter presents an example of the planning of the construction process of a residence with CPM. In the final chapter, the analyse of the data gained according to the aims during thesis process is made. 'SSS2S3SS?
