Abstract (EN)
The concept of sustainability, have been analysed, discussed and developed by many disciplines. The architecture, as well as other disciplines, explored this concept and will continue to investigate. With the wide range of its interests and effectiveness, the discipline of architecture has found its place in the sustainability debate and has been influenced by this concept. As a result the concept of Sustainable Architecture, its strategies and methods of application was born. The sustainability level of architectural designs is directly related to strategies and implementation methods used under the sustainable architecture concept. Today, in architectural designs we are apt to notice buildings that measured in terms of sustainable architecture, supervised and documented the characteristics they possess and referred as the Green Building. All over the world, in order to measure an `architectural design?, sustainability certification systems were developed and in general they are entitled as Green Building Certification Systems. In this thesis study, not only the certain type of structures described as green building, all the structures in the nature of sustainable architecture can be measured with any degree and with the purpose of evaluating the results and document evidence, delivering the convenience and flexibility to the owner and designers of the building and compatible with the existing laws and legislations of our country and our standards a Sustainable Building Evaluation Model proposal has been prepared. Compatible with the existing laws and legislations of our country and our standards, prepared in reference of standard certificates, prepared by governmental agencies and institutes, we can evaluate the building with holistic approach by using all the sustainable architecture criteria that have got awareness on the global scale, a Sustainable Building Rating System that prepared for our country. Different types of buildings have gained qualifications under the special condition of our country, using a local assessment system of our country, global awareness levels were determined, periodically updated, filtered by the Sustainable Architecture Evaluation Criteria and whereby, construction activities of our country will carry the qualities of sustainable architecture. This attitude should be encouraged. In the first part of the thesis, the problem has been subject to study identified, the purpose, content and method of the study are described. In the second part of the thesis, Sustainability, Sustainable Development and Sustainable Architecture concepts are examined, major topics were identified for the strategy and implementation methods of Sustainable Architecture. Sustainable Architecture Product Measurement and Assessment Topics and Coverage Areas are identified respect to these selected topics. In the third part, has been studied Ecologic Labeling and concept of Green Building, and tried to explain the relationship between the two subject. Concept of Green Building and it?s effect of the development of the Green Building Certification Systems are researched. Hence, development processes and structural properties of most widely used Green Building Certification Systems were investigated. Also the situation associated with the concept of Green Building in our country, proposed legislations and related studies were investigated in this part. Type of residential building in our country, which is the subject for the thesis and housing associated with the Turkish family structure were studied and presented. In the fourth part of the study, proposal of a Sustainable Building Assessment Model for our country was presented and the proposed model, which are subject to the thesis, applied for Residential Building Type and Climatic Comfort Criteria. Proposed Sustainable Building Assessment Model is the the kind of a sub-systems model, works by creating control models for the strategy and implementation topics of sustainable architecture and at the end of each control done by sub-control models, processed data moves up to a higher related model. Sustainable Building Assessment Model is comprising in two basic processes, Obtaining Sustainable Building Assessment Model and Application of Sustainable Building Assessment Model. In terms of managing, the model offers, government agencies to work together in co-operation with the private and independent organizations. Presented in the fourth section of the study, basic process steps for obtaining Sustainable Building Assessment Model, aims primarily to form the model does not yet exist. For this purpose Green Building Certification Systems is determined, in terms of perform a structure that suitable for operation and analysis study. Green Building Certification Systems that are designated were analysed, Sustainable Building Assessment Model? main rating criteria and sub -rating titles are created. Target qualifications which are related to sub-rating titles and determining the values of these qualities, we will provide data input the next major step in the process called Application of Sustainable Building Assessment Model. Protect the timeliness of the provided data the process steps are repeated at regular intervals. Basic process steps of Obtaining of Sustainable Building Assessment Model identifies the qualities of being sustainable building, on the other hand basic process steps of Application of Sustainable Building Assessment Model monitors and promotes the relevant buildings and identifies that what extend these buildings carrying out of these qualities. Basic process steps of Application of Sustainable Building Assessment Model is to be divided into two parts as Action Steps Pre-Assessment Process and Action Steps for Assessment Process. After the identification of the structure and in line with this definition the target the valueswill determined and depending on the quality of the structure, structure design, production, renovation and maintenance processes will be performed. All these will be performed by the building designers and owners and the building will be ready for the application process. Thus, action steps of Pre-Assessment Process will be completed. After this stage, action steps of Assessment Process will begin, depending on the pre-survey, a positive or negative pre-decision is given for the building and if the pre-decision positive the Qualitative Assessment process is introduced. After Qualitative Assessment performed, decision will be made for Qualitative Assessment Decision and if the decision is positive, appropriate with the rating results, structure will be documented. In order to keep achieved document and preserve the existing qualities of the building process steps are repeated at regular intervals. Residential buildings in our country, as well as all over the world, are type of buildings that need to be focused. People spend most of their time in indoor environments and residential buildings are in the front row of this category. When we consider the analysed the results of the survey Distribution by Housing and Environmental Problems in Turkey by TUIK, 2011, we see that, the user dissatisfaction caused from housing has reached enormous proportions and it is given precedence over other building types to residential buildings that it is obtaining and applying recommended Sustainable Building Assessment Model. The topic of comfortable life conditions is much more important when considered that people spend most of their time in indoor environments. In order to be sustainable, a building needs to be healthy and comfortable. Physiological and psychological health of users is directly related to the climatic comfort conditions of indoor environments. Ensuring climatic comfort of the building will improves the usability and thus total life comfort and quality of the building will improve. Checking to which extend of climatic comfort conditions carried in housings of our country and documenting this results will protect the consumer and it will provide in a healthier and more sustainable life conditions. For this purpose, the model that has the features of the sub-systems model, also it is a sub-model of Sustainable Building Assessment Model and at the same time it is an example for the obtaining and application processes of the recommended primary model, a model proposal for evaluation of climatic comfort criteria for sustainable architecture in residences has been prepared. In this context, proposed Sustainable Building Assessment Model applied in terms of Residential Building Type and Climatic Comfort Criteria, which are subject to the thesis, and data input is provided for A Model Proposal for Assessment of Climatic Comfort Criteria for Sustainable Architecture in Residences which is proposed on the fifth chapter of the thesis. Presented in the fifth section of the study, as proposed at the fourth section, which is part of Sustainable Buildings Assessment Model, basic process steps of Application of Sustainable Building Assessment Model were discussed. Of these fundamental step in the process, Action Steps of Assessment Process examined in terms of Residential Building Type and Climatic Comfort Criteria, which are subject to the thesis, and has been created a sub-model that is working related to proposed Sustainable Building Assessment Model. Generated this sub-model, to checking to identify which extend of sustainable climatic comfort conditions carried in housings of our country and documenting this results, will protect the consumer and it will provide in a healthier and in this sense more sustainable life conditions. For this purpose, the model that has the features of the sub-systems model, also it is a sub-model of Sustainable Building Assessment Model and at the same time it is an example for the obtaining and application processes of the recommended primary model, A Model Proposal for Assessment of Climatic Comfort Criteria for Sustainable Architecture in Residences. While the prepared study presented, every step of obtained results were evaluated, the results of this assessment and the recommendations presented in the sixth section of the study which would be the conclusion.
