Investigation of the development process and structural transformation of Konya pedestrian overpasses

In this study, pedestrian overpasses were examined from past to present and it was determined that bridges were used for both pedestrian and traffic in the past. From today's perspective, considering the speed and widespread of vehicles and the growth of the main arteries, pedestrian overpasses have been developed in order to prevent pedestrian and traffic encounters and to separate the pedestrians and vehicles completely. Later they turned into symbolic structures.The history of pedestrian overpasses in the world has been described chronologically, categorized within itself and examined in terms of materials, design and functions. In the study, 29 pedestrian overpasses built in Konya until 2019 were examined. The overpasses built before 2005 are examined under a separate heading considering they are reinforced concrete prefabricated overpasses, they do not meet the standards of the disabled and their technological conditions and the overpasses made between 2005-2013 were examined under a separate heading, taking into account the differences in terms of laws and regulations, material, structure and function.The pedestrian overpasses built after 2013 are divided into three headings in terms of responding to today's needs, benefiting from technological developments, and producing close solutions by considering certain standards in terms of function, form and material.Pedestrian overpasses are displayed on the Konya map as points. Its location, material, form, static status, function, details, finish materials and cost status are explained in detail. As a result, the pedestrian overpasses of Konya have been examined chronologically and a pedestrian overpass memory has been created according to the technology, materials and demands of each period.
