Abstract (EN)

Coastal regions have been used intensively since the beginning of the history of mankind. This intense usage causes pressure on coastal zones. Due to this pressure, it has become inevitable to change coast line and make arrangements on coasts. Although some of them preserve and improve natural balance, a great deal of uses and changes cause deterioration of the natural balance. Deterioration occurs at whole coastal zones, from closure depth to coastal hinterland. However, the effects of deterioration are mostly felt at shoreline by human being. It is important to estimate shoreline retreat and changes caused by erosion. When erosion took place, most of the time changes are irreversible. Moreover, the preventive actions are expensive and also irreversible. In the present study, shoreline change along Antalya, Konyaaltı coast is modelled. Sediment transport along Konyaaltı coast is modelled unidimensionally according to one-line model which has a broad field of application in literature. Developed models show how Konyaaltı shoreline which is under intense pressure will change. Also models show areas of possible accretion and/or erosion. Moreover, developed models provide knowledge for preventive actions, and give measures to plan coastal structures.
