Abstract (EN)

The movement of people, animals and goods from one place to another for a specific reason is called transportation. It is one of the most important elements that make up a very important part of daily life in developed societies and enable people to exist socially and economically. The problems caused by rapid urbanization, population growth and industrialization affect the transportation sector. One of the most important problems in the traffic in the city is the intersection points that arise by the combination of roads coming from different directions and the changes that occur at these points. Since the intersections contain a high densitys, the a great amajority of traffic jams and accidents occur in this part. Due to the congestion that occurs, there is more fuel consumption. For this reason, intersections must be designed correctly. The most important factor desired in the design is that the vehicles leave the intersection with minimum delay. This work has been conducted to assess the current operating system of consecutive traffic signals of Stadium Intersection, Kültürpark Intersection, and SGK Intersection of Elazig province and investigate the benefits of these signals coordinatedby using micro-simulation software vissim. With the help of camera recordings taken by the Directorate of Transportation Services of Elazig Municipality, traffic counts have made at the peak hours of the intersections on weekdays and weekends. The current status of the intersections was analyzed and evaluated using Vissim software. Afterwards, the offset times were calculated considering the distances between the intersections and the average speeds. The results obtained by creating 4 different situations according to the offset times were compared and evaluated with the current situations of the intersections. As a result of the comparisons, 100% success was achieved in most of the situations examined. For this reason, the operation of intersections in the form of coordinated intersections provides advantages in every way.
