Relationship between coronary artery disease and syntax II score and echoardiographic strain values

Özet (EN)

Objective: This study examined strain, strain rate echocardiography values and presence of CAD and SYNTAX II scores in patients who hospitalized with the diagnosis of stable angina pectoris that undergoing coronary angiography between 2019/2020. Materials and methods: Underwent coronary angiography due to suspected CAD with normal left ventricular systolic functions by transthoracic echocardiography, 64 patients were included in this study. Patients were evaluated according to the results of coronary angiography and analyzed in three groups such as ; patients without critical stenosis in the coronary arteries, with ≥50% stenosis in at least one segment of their coronary arteries and SYNTAX II score <22, with ≥50% stenosis in at least one segment of their coronary arteries and SYNTAX II score ≥22. Patients were reviewed for demographic characteristics, echocardiographic findings, strain and strain rate parameters and laboratory results. Results: İn our study, when the groups compared with regard to global longitudinal strain and strain rate values, S and SR of the group with coronary artery disease were significantly lower than control group and there was statistically significant difference between the two groups. In addition, when the groups with CAD+SYNTAX II≥22 and CAD+SYNTAX II<22 were compared, the global longitudinal strain value of the group with high SYNTAX score was found to be significantly lower. In groups with coronary artery disease with critical stenosis in the coronary arteries, regarding global longitudinal strain rate value there were no statistically significant differences. Conclusion: In our study, there were statistically significant differences between the three groups in terms of global longitudinal strain values also, there was an inverse correlation between SYNTAX II score and global longitudinal stress values. In our study, statistically significant decrease was found between presence of CAD and global longitudinal strain rate values. With the results, it has been observed that, strain and strain rate can be used to the prediction of coronary artery disease (CAD) also, there is a relationship between global longitudinal strain values and CAD severity. In order to better evaluate these findings, it will be useful to carry out research as a larger follow-up, multicenter, prospective randomized studies.
