Environmental effects of one of the protection methods of refunctioning concept- Antakya Konak restaurant

In this study, the concept of re-functioning and environmental effects of re-functioning; The functional change of Konak Restaurant, which has been converted into a restaurant by re-functioning around the history of Antakya, and the environmental impacts of the functional change have been examined. The development of conservation in the historical process and as one of the conservation methods, the gains of the re functioning that provides to historical environments and historical structures, are mentioned. In the historical process, by examining the characteristics of Antakya city and the historical environments and historical structures in Antakya; The re-functionalization of Konak Restaurant, which has been turned into a restaurant by being functionalized in the historical vicinity of Antakya, was examined. In Konak Restaurant, places and elements of place that have been changed and transformed by re-functionalization have been analyzed. The post-construction places of the building were compared with the previous version and all changes and losses in the interior and exterior places were determined and examined. With the re-functionalization application of Konak Restaurant, the effects of Konak Restaurant on the historical environment in which it is located and the positive and negative results of the changes occurring with the re-functional interventions in the historical environment of Antakya were supported by survey studies. The historical environment of Antakya; reflecting the architectural features of the period, were analized by observations, researches and surveys; solutions are presented to eliminate the identified deficiencies.
