Abstract (EN)

Contemporary education policies was one of the most emphasized topics in new social life which was formed with the proclamation of the republic. In Ottoman Empire Era, low literacy level was one of the essential educational problem expect for important cities like Istanbul, İzmir and Bursa. In Turkish Republic established as a nation state, developing rural population in villages, reducing the huge educational difference between the rural areas and the city, making the development of the country faster and especially providing secular nation change from religional society to national root society were main education policies to provide national unity in education. We are going to analyze the causes of establishment, pioneers, social conditions of its era, concept and methods of the education and opponents of Village Institutes which was established for achieving the listed goals. In this study, we are going to evaluate the emerged educationel and ideological differences, effects of those differences on establishment of these institutes, differences between this institutes and schools which were establised by Democrat Party Government with the idea of '' We can do better '' by analyzing the first established village institute Kızılçullu Village Institute and last established village institute Ernis Village Institute.
