Taking part a long time in history, Kyrgyz people have been ruled by the Tsarist regime throughout the end of the XIX century. The Muslims of Turkestan under Russian domination had very calamitous days. In 1867, Tsarist Russia divided Turkestan first into regions and then into provinces. They placed Russians on the divided lands and they planned to destroy the national feelings of Kyrgyz completely andto create a new Russia by effacing their language, religion and history. Eventually, national struggle became the national tragedy of the Kyrgyz people in the XX century.
