Correlation between personality characteristics and depression and anxiety levels of people diagnosed with chronicle diseases

In this study, the relationship between personality characteristics and depression and anxiety levels of people diagnosed with chronicle disease were investigated. Participants completed the following questionnaires: Personal Information Form, Beck Depression Scale, Beck Anxiety Scale and Affective Neuroscience Personality Scale. Also, demograghic information about the participants has been collected by Personal Information Form. 119 women and 80 men, diagnosed with at least one of the following chronic diseases of high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, and coroner artery diseases were participated in the study. The results showed correlations of personality characteristics with depression and anxiety levels. Furthermore, people who are diagnosed with more than one chronical disease showed significantly higher levels of depression and anxiety. Further analyses demonstrated significant relationships for gender, education level, marital status and socioeconomic status to depression and anxiety.
