Abstract (EN)
SUMMARY Investigation of Erythrocyte Membrane Lipid Profile, Oxidative Stress and the parametres of DNA Damage in Patients with Chronic Lymphoid Leukemia Dr. Bahadır KARAKULA Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is the most commonly diagnosed type of leukemia, represents about 30% of all leukemias in adults. The incidence of CLL is 4.2/100.000 per year. The median age of diagnosis of 72 years. The incidence of CLL is higher in males than in females, with a male-to-female ratio of 1.9:1. In the study, we investigated systemic oxidative stress parametres in CLL patients, the presence of DNA damage, erythrocyte membrane lipid profile in lymphocytes isolated by the comet method in CLL patients. In the study, 38 newly diagnosed CLL patients and 38 age-sex matched control groups were inclued in Pamukkale University Medical Faculty Hospital, Department of Hematology between June 2021 and December 2022. TOS and TAS , OSI, Comet analysis, DNA damage, serum 8- OHdG, gas chromatographic analyzes were performed. It was observed that the results of TOS and OSI in the case group were higher than the control group (p=0.014 and p=0.022, respectively). There is no significant difference in terms of TAS and 8-OHdG between the case and the control group (p>0.05). It was determined that DNA damage was increased by measured Comet method at the case group. Although the level of membrane fatty acids was decreased in the case group compared to the control group, no significant difference was found statistically. (p>0.05) In conclusion, it has been observed that oxidative stress and DNA damage increased in CLL. We believe that our study have a a prognostic significance and getting new opinion in the biological comprehension of the disease with potential therapeutic implications. Key words: Oxidative stress, DNA damage, Erythrocyte membrane lipid profile, Chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
