Abstract (EN)
This is a retrospective study that aims to investigate clinical and audiological findings of patients who were operated because of chronic otitis media with ossicular chain reconstruction. At this study clinical and audiological results of 270 ears of 246 patients that operated because of chronic otitis media and ossicular chain reconstruction at University of Gaziantep Medical Faculty Otorhinolaryngology Clinic between January 2001 and June 2009 are analyzed retrospectively.Patients usually had ear discharge that prolongs long time and hearing impairment increasing gradually. After routine otorhinolaryngologic and otomicroscopic exams, audiological examinations were done and available patients have been operated. Operation findings and postoperative patient progresses were recorded after patient files are examined carefully.Gained informations are compared by statistical sense. After kind of operations and technics of ossicular chain reconstructions, gained audiological values are compared. We found that tympanoplasty with mastoidectomy was the most prefered surgical technic and incus interposition was most applied at ossicular chain reconstruction and ossicular chain defect was mostly found at incus. As a surgical technic tympanoplasty with mastoidectomy and bone cement for ossicular chain reconstruction were found most successfully. In conclusion bone cement ossiculoplasty for incudostapedial joint discontinuity were found successful at suitable cases, at further ossicular pathologies ossicular interposition has found successfull.
