Özet (EN)

Introduction and Purpose: Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is defined as itchy urticaria and/or angioedema that lasts for at least 6 weeks and develops spontaneously due to known or unknown causes. In adults, CSU, which can last for 1 to 5 years, significantly affects the quality of life of patients. It has also been associated with increased levels of anxiety and depression, which independently affect quality of life. Low quality of life and high levels of depression are known in patients with CSU compared to the normal population and our aim in this study was to determine the level of depression and quality of life in patients with CSU according to treatment differences. Material and Metods: Patients admitted to the Dermatology and Venereology Outpatient Clinic of Kırşehir Training and Research Hospital with a diagnosis of chronic spontaneous urticaria for at least 1 year were included in the study. Patients' height-weight, comorbidity, history of angioedema, UAS7 grade at the time of diagnosis, and current treatment were recorded. Patients were administered the BDI and DLQI questionnaires and the results were recorded. UAS7 scores of the patients during treatment were recorded. They were divided into two groups as omalizumab and second generation antihistamine group according to the treatment they received. The data of the two groups were compared. Results: Baseline UAS7 score was higher in the group receiving Omalizumab (p<0.05). Compared to the group using second generation antihistamine: baseline UAS7 score decrease was greater in the group using omalizumab (p<0,05), beck depression Index (BDI) scores and dermatology life quality index (DLQI) scores were higher (0.03 and 0.022, respectively). BDI and DLQI scores were not correlated with the amount of change in UAS7. Conclusion: Omalizumab is more effective than second generation antihistamine in reducing disease activity. Quality of life and depression levels are significantly better in the group receiving omalizumab. The efficacy of omalizumab treatment is higher than antihistamine, which is the first-line treatment. However, comprehensive studies in larger patient groups with control group and baseline questionnaire evaluations will increase the value of our data. Key Words: Chronic spontaneous urticaria, omalizumab, uas, depression, quality of life
