Abstract (EN)
The severe acute syndrome coronavirus, which has been on the agenda since 2020, has spread rapidly in the world. With the increasing health awareness against the pathogenic effects of microorganisms that cause diseases, important studies have been carried out in recent years for the use of antimicrobial agents. In line with these studies, within the scope of this thesis; Silquat compounds have been synthesized, which increase the duration of antimicrobial activity, decrease the frequency of disinfectant use, and which can be used to prepare water-based formulations. In the literature, the synthesis of (3-Chloropropyl)trimethoxysilane compound of silquats and quaternary ammonium compounds with 12-18 carbon chain lengths has been carried out, and MIC tests have not been performed. In this thesis, in addition to the reaction of quaternary ammonium compounds with different carbon chain lengths (CnH2n+1)NX2 (n=12-18, X=CH3, H) and (3-Chloropropyl)trimethoxysilane, ten different silquat compounds were synthesized for the first time by using (3-Chloropropyl)triethoxysilane. The chemical structures of the synthesized Silquat compounds were characterized by FTIR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR analyzes and their antimicrobial activities were determined by MIC (Minimum Inhibition Concentration) test against different microorganism species including Escherichia coli (Gram negative), Staphylococcus aureus (Gram positive), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Gram negative), Enterococcus hirea (Gram positive), Candida albicans and Aspergillus brasiliensis.
