Herbal decoration on the cross shape wall tile of the Kubad-Abâd Palace

In this study it?s aimed to judge the ceramics and botanical decoration that are all over The Palace of Kubad-Abâd, dating back to the periods of Anatolian Seljuks. 30 works that are among those in the Kubad-Abâd excavation centre showing the technique and the forms unique to the palace have been examined. The results about the botanical decoration over the cross-shape ceramics of Palace of Kubad-Abâd were reached by backing up the cross-shape ceramics with its different usage in the other forms of art.The ceramics that form the subject of the thesis were made in sıraltı technique and mostly have a 2.3 cm. or 2.7 cm. thickness whereas some has thinner 2 cm. or 2.8 cm. thickness. The wideness in the ceramics that were able to survive, are generally between 6.8 cm. and 7.8 cm. In some samples the wideness is 8 cm. The clay in all ceramics is almost white.The botanical decorations over the ceramics are generally consisted of palmet, rumi, thimbleweed, leaf, çintemani and composite. The figures have formed compositions generally by spinning, separating, increasing or with symmetric compositions following one another. There is an unlimited composition. These figures have been formed relevant to each other and without using a pattern rather with free-drawing methods.The Kubad-Abâd Palace, which has been an important source with the excavations carried out since 1965, has maintained to back up this information dating back to the period with the excavations continuing there
