Abstract (EN)
Objective: In our study, it was planned to compare lober and sublober resection performed in non-small cell lung cancer patients at Akdeniz University Hospital, Department of Thoracic Surgery and to investigate their effects on survival. Materials and Methods: Patients who applied to Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Thoracic Surgery between 01.11.1999 and 31.10.2020 and were diagnosed with preoperative and intraoperative lung cancer and underwent lung resection were retrospectively examined and patients who were diagnosed with NSCLC and underwent resection were included in the study. In our study, patients were generally divided into 2 groups. These; Patients diagnosed with NSCLC who underwent lober resection and sublober resection were divided into groups. The overall survival of these patients was compared. The effect of lober and sublober resection on survival in patients diagnosed with NSCLC was examined. In this patient group, we analyzed whether age and gender, the histopathological type of the tumor, the location of the mass, the resection performed, additional diseases, whether the patient received oncological treatment or not, and the size of the tumor had an effect on survival. Log-Rank test was performed under Kaplan-Meier analysis to examine overall survival times. In all tests, the statistical significance level (p) was taken as 0.05. Conclusion: Different surgical methods in the surgical treatment of NSCLC can be used. In general, sublober resections in NSCLC patients are long-term. It was concluded that it may be the right option for treatment in terms of long-term survival results, and that it may be sufficient for treatment when sublober resection is performed with a surgical margin distance of more than 5 mm, especially in patients over 61 years of age and in T1-T2 tumors. Key Words: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), lobectomy, sublober resection, survival
