Abstract (EN)
Although slang and swear words seem to be cold concepts tobe avoided and unnecessary they have become a part of daily communication in almost every culture. Usage of slang and swearwords in interpersonal communication, as well as mass media, isfrequently encountered. In spite of this intensive use, it cannot be said that it has been adequately studied in academic terms. In this study, attitudes about usage of slang and swearwords in daily communication and the factors leadingthe individuals to use them were tried to be investigated. In this context, quantitative research was conducted on students from universities selected from seven regions of Turkey. According to the results of the data collected by the survey method, it was concluded that usage of blasphemy and slang is an indispensable part of daily communication.
