Investigation of user and design relations in the sample of hospital garden

The subject of this research is that, taking into account the positive effects of the natural and cultural landscape on people, an examination of garden designs of hospitals, which are the main sources of prevention illnesses, prevention of disease recurrence and regulation of human health, also an examination of the relationship of the user group (employee, inpatient, outpatient, visitor) with garden. The less importance given to the landscape designs of hospital gardens and the limited number of studies on this subject have been effective in choosing this topic. When physical rehabilitation is supported by emotional rehabilitation, healing seems to accelerate. Eskişehir Osmangazi University Health Practice and Research Hospital has been chosen as the research area. In order to analyze the current state of the research area, an observation form has been prepared. A questionnaire was made to the employees, inpatients, outpatients and visitors using the hospital garden. Surveys have been conducted on employees, inpatients, outpatients and visitors using the hospital garden. 350 users have been participated in the survey. With this survey, the design features of hospital garden which are desired to be in the hospital garden by the user group have been determined and the effect of being in the garden on people has been measured. The results obtained from the research are parallel with the previous studies. Being in the garden has been created greatly positive effects on the user group. Hospital gardens, where different usage areas should be created, should be designed considering the diversity of the user group. A multidisciplinary study should be done in hospital design and landscape architects should be included in the project from the inception phase. This study, has scientific, social and economic value, has been seem to be beneficial to professions that are effective in the design of hospital gardens as well as social scientists.
