Cultural oriented landscape biography: Üsküdar Coastal Bandi sample

In this study, inventory of all cultural assets in the coastal band in the Üsküdar district of İstanbul is produced. The existence processes of each cultural entity from past to present have been evaluated, awareness of cultural assets have been determined and urban cultural past photographs of the urban people have been reached and compared. The area between the Üsküdar Square and Selimiye Barracks was chosen as the boundaries of the study area and 1 km far from the coastline. Within the boundaries of the study, Üsküdar Square, Kızkulesi, Sultan 3. Ahmet Fountain, Mihrimah Sultan Mosque, Selimiye Barracks, Büyük Selimiye Mosque, Ayazma Mosque, Ayazma Fountain, Old Ferry Port, Harem Bus Station, Şemsi Paşa District Public Library, Balaban Tekkesi etc. are located in many important buildings. With the method of study, City plan was provided from Üsküdar Municipality and inventories were determined by using Arc. Map. 10.1 program by determining the places of existing historical and cultural assets. After the creation of the inventory, spatial changes in the process starting from the construction year and the story of each area, starting from the present day, have been put forward together with the external changes and usage purposes. With this research for each cultural entity within the study area; roads, green area distributions, civil architecture examples, earthquakes, fires, wars, occupations, laws and regulations, etc., which play an important role in shaping the present situation, have been interpreted together with natural, cultural and social factors. While the biography of the general landscape of the study area and the biographies of each historical cultural entity in the field were revealed, the photographs, depictions and hand drawings between the years 1870-2018 were utilized largely.
