Abstract (EN)
In this study the issue of jihad is discussed on the basis of the Quran. In the study the approach of the Quran to jihad and the practice of the Prophet in jihad is examined in detail. The study consists of an introduction, two chapters, an evaluation and a conclusion. The subject of the study, its purpose, importance, method and references of the study are examined in the introduction chapter. Jihad is semantically analysed in the first chapter. Mostly the theoretical aspect of jihad which is mentioned in the Quran is presented in terms of linguistic analysis. First of all, lexical and terminological meaning of the concept of jihad is provided in detail. The use of the root of j-h-d by Jahiliyyah and Muhadram Poets is dealt with by means of examining the meaning of jihad in the period of Jahiliyyah in order to analyze the semantic of jihad. Then different kinds of meanings given for jihad by the Quran in Mecca and Madinah are presented. Next, the related concepts with jihad where in the semantic field of jihad are discussed separately and ultimate results are presented under the light of semantic analysis with general evaluation. In the second chapter the practice of jihad in life, to whom it was done against and the results of jihad are discussed. The relation of jihad and call (dawah) is emphasized chronologically as a part of dialectic between fact and text in the context of practice of jihad in the Quran and Sirah (the life of the Prophet). It is examined that to whom and what jihad is done against, how jihad had been practiced and must have been practiced. At the end of this chapter, the results of practice of jihad like martyrdom, booty, conquest is evaluated. Lastly, a general evaluation has been made and in the conclusion chapter final findings generally is summarized. Keywords: Quran, Jihad, Semantic, Prophet, Practice.
