Investigation of awareness and knowledge levels regarding the impact of global warming and climate change on public health: The case of Ardahan province

This study was conducted to determine the knowledge level sandawareness of individualsliving in Ardahan province regarding global warming and climate change. Employing a quantitative research approach, the study was carriedoutusing a survey designand completed with 350 participants. Data werecollected through a Demographic Information Form and the Climate Change Attitude Questionnaire, which demonstrated high reliability. The finding srevealed that themajority of participants perceive climate change as a significant issue at both global and local level sand exhibit a high level of awareness regarding its potential impacts, particularly on health, agriculture, live stock production, and water resources. However, the overall level of knowledge was found to be insufficient, and local-level effortsto address climate change were perceived as inadequate. Interms of demographic variables, women and in dividual swithing here ducationalat tainment exhibited significantly higher climate change attitude scores, where a sage and place of residence had no significant effect on attitudes. In conclusion, a high level of awareness of climate change was identified across Ardahan province, and climate change was widely perceived as an important societal problem. In this context, it is considered that the development of policies addressing the public health impacts of climate change, the expansion of education and awareness-raising activities, raising activities of climate adaptation strategies willmake significant contributions to enhancin gregional resilience.
