The role of emotional contagion in the internal communication: A research on administrator-employee

Abstract (EN)

Communication is an indispensable fact for individuals and societies. Man is a social being in terms of his structure. The development of social existence depends on an effective communication process. Communication is one of the basic building blocks of life. Therefore, communication is of great importance not only for the individual but also for the institutions. Individuals experience emotional contagion by being affected by the emotions of the people in the society and organization and shape their attitudes and behaviors according to these feelings and thoughts. The subject of the study covers the the role and the impact of the internal communication of emotional contagion on administrators and employees. This study in which the general screening model-cross sectional research method survey technique was used, is aimed to show that internal emotional transmission is either effective or ineffective on administrators and employees who are working in public institutions and organizations and the private sector. In order to achieve this goal, the limitations of the study and the target group were determined, and the questionnaire questions specially prepared for the participants and the answers given to these questions were analyzed with emotional contagion scale and organizational commitment scale. The data obtained as a result of the study showed that emotional contagion in internal communication had an effect on administrators and employees. In particular, it has been revealed that the effects of senior administrators and employees on lower-level employees are more pronounced, the quality of the information obtained within the organization is effective on employees and managers, internal communication channels play an important role in emotional transmission, and internal emotional transmission is directly related to organizational commitment. It was concluded that the negative working climate surrounded by negative emotions within the organization caused a decrease in the performance of the employees and increased anxiety, and that the positive emotions and positive working climate increased the performance efficiency of the employees and increased the organizational commitment.
