Abstract (EN)

In this study, alienation from religion as a contemporary phenomenon is discussed in the dimension of individual religiosity conceptualization. The reason why it is taken as alienation from religion is that individual religiosity, which is constructed as a result of entering into a distance by bringing suspicion, questioning and criticism against institutional religion, is examined. In other words, there is a process of change here. For this purpose, interviews were conducted by reaching people in an individual construction process by leaving traditional religious life with the snowball method. After the interviews, the data were analyzed descriptively with the phenomenological method and the reasons and results of this change process were coded and analyzed with certain themes. First of all, the breaking points of the change process were tried to be understood and the reasons were emphasized. It is important to understand what kind of imaginations the institutional/traditional religious life causes in people in terms of understanding the breaking points. It is also aimed to analyze the nature of what is newly constructed in this process of change and its relationship with previous perceptions and experiences.
