Effect of drying on grinding characteristic of Afsin-Elbistan lignite

Abstract (EN)

In this study, effect of moisture content on grinding characteristics of Afsin-Elbistan lignites were investigated using Hardgrove Grindability Index (HGI), Impact Strength Index ISI), Measured Impact Strength Index (MISI) and Grinding tests (d80). Lignite samples were dried at different temperatures (60, 75, 90 and 105 oC) and different time (80, 120, 160, 200 and 240 min) in order to obtain different moisture content of coal. At the end of these experiments, two series lignite samples whose moisture contents changed from 6,70% to 40,00% were prepared. It was determined that drying temperature was more effective than drying time using variance analysis method.The standart strength tests were conducted to determine effect of particle size distribution on the breakage by using the samples in various size ranges. Hardgrove grindability index and grinding experiments were done in order to determine grindability of prepared samples
