The Black Sea basin in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative

The Belt and Road Initiative can be evaluated as the regional strategy including China and its neighbors and the global strategy including 66 countries from Asia, Europa, and Africa. Building this initiative, China declared the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21. Century Maritime Silk Road project, which they are two fundamental parts of the Belt and Road Initiative. China encounters some problems based on infrastructure, development, finance, underdevelopment in Belt and Road Initiative countries because most of the initiative countries are developing ones. China supports the initiative by China headquartered financial institutions such as China Development Bank, Export-Import Bank of China, Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Silk Road Fund, Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank in order to solve developing countries' these kinds of problems and to build projects serving to the Belt and Road Initiative. The reason for selection of the Black Sea Basin as the research region is on key position of the region for the Belt and Road Initiative. Baku-Tbilisi-Kars train project, Anaklia and Piraeus Ports, 16+1 Platform including Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway project, and other infrastructure, development, energy projects are significant points highlighting the importance of this region for the Belt and Road Initiative.
