A Kemalist newspaper published in Kütahya "Halk"

After the national liberation war was won, the new government established in Ankara under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal announced that the new form of government was the republic and that the style of this government was democracy. But in order for this new form of administration to be implemented, it had to be explained to the public correctly and the public's participation in the administration had to be ensured. Mustafa Kemal knew that the most accurate and fastest way to do this could be done by reaching large audiences through the press, and for this reason, he aimed to use the Anatolian press effectively. He approved the establishment of Irade-i Milliye in Sivas, then Hakimiyet-i Milliye in Ankara, and finally Anadolu Agency, Turkey's first national local news agency based in Ankara. These established national newspapers and news agency had difficulty in reaching all the bays of Anatolia to all parts of the country. Noticing this shortcoming, Mustafa Kemal organized trips to the important provinces of Anatolia both to see the situation of the Anatolian people and to feel the pulse before the elections before the newly established parliamentary elections. During these travels, he requested the establishment of local newspapers in the provinces where the press failed to reach the national volition. Kutahya Halk newspaper has taken its place in the history of Turkish press as one of these newspapers. By publishing many news from the political, judicial, cultural, literary, economic, artistic, national and foreign media in the region, the Halk newspaper has done an important job both to make the national volition prevail and to raise awareness of the public. Kutahya, one of the most important cities of Anatolia in the first year of the Republic, and the people of Kutahya communicated with the newly established republic and the Ankara Government through the Halk newspaper. Reflecting the social, cultural and economic life of the period like a mirror, Halk newspaper served as the most important communication tool for history and the republic a century ago.
