Vocabulary in Kutb's Hüsrev ü Şirin

In this masnavi, which is a work in Khwarezmian Turkish, the features of the Khwarezmian language combine with the subtleties of the narration of the masnavi and takes the reader to the atmosphere of that period. In every line touched with the elegance of the language, Qutb's story of Husrev u Shirin reflects the life, feelings and thoughts of the people of that period. The passion of the two lovers helps us understand the emotional and social dynamics of the Khwarezm society of the 14th century. Beyond just love, this story also conveys to us the values, relationships and social fabric of that period. This work, which was translated by a poet with the pseudonym Kutb, about whom there is no definite information other than guesses, approximately two centuries after it was written by Nizami of Ganja, and whose only surviving copy was written by Berke Fakih, consists of approximately 4730 couplets and ninety titles. The main purpose of our study, in which we examine the vocabulary of this translation, which is the first story of Hüsrev and Şirin in Turkish literature, is to examine the language of the period in more detail through the text and to offer a broad perspective in order to understand the depth of the text and evaluate the expressive power of the author/translator. Another aim is to understand the role of language and vocabulary in a literary work such as "Husrev ü Şirin". By analyzing the linguistic structure of the work, the depth of the words and expressions used, the effect of poetic elements and the role of language on the overall effect of the work, we aim to understand and explain the expressive power of the language and the emotional impact of the work. The study consists of two main parts: introduction and review. In the first part, information about the vocabulary, the work, the author and translator of the work, and the studies done on this work are given. In the second part, the analysis, the nouns in the work, special, abstract, concrete, proper nouns and collective nouns, are classified according to their functions, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns are shown, identified verbs and verbals are presented, prepositions and conjunctions are explained. In addition, common idioms, proverbs, formulaic expressions, and foreign words with Turkish suffixes are also given in this section.
